Cllr Phil Atkins launches MyDudley

Dudley Council scoops award for MyDudley pre-launch campaign

Dudley Council has scooped a national award for its prelaunch campaign for its new online platform MyDudley.

The campaign took top spot in this year’s Citizen Experience Award category in the Granicus UK Digital Public Sector Awards, announced today (March 18).

MyDudley launched last December and offers residents a new way to interact with the council, enabling them to access a host of council services in one place and be kept up to date with the progress of their request or query.

In the months running up to the launch, the MyDudley team set about a campaign of engagement to ensure residents’ needs would be reflected in the platform’s design.

They met with community and voluntary groups as well as residents and carers with a wide range of age, ability and accessibility needs, including Dudley’s deaf and visually impaired communities, residents with physical disabilities and British Sign Language interpreters.

The team also hit the road in a double decker bus to host 16 roadshow events, ensuring residents across the borough could find out more about the platform and share the services they would like to be prioritised.

In just three months since its launch, more than 46,000 people have signed up to MyDudley, with thousands giving it five star reviews.

Councillor Phil Atkins, cabinet member for corporate strategy, said:

“Congratulations to the MyDudley team for this award. The MyDudley Project team and service area teams have worked incredibly hard, at pace, to focus on dovetailing customer experience into digital design.

“This is the largest single change in service provision the council has undertaken, so it was important we engaged with people across the borough before we went live.

“And the success of this campaign is reflected by the fantastic number of residents who have already signed up and are using it.

“We’ve now got 46,000 user accounts. Residents really appreciate the ability to log issues or raise a request at a time that’s convenient for them. And when they create an account, we’re able to keep them posted with their issue from start to finish.”

If you want to request it, report it or pay it, use MyDudley, online, anytime.
